MB 585 Literature Review
Abstract
With increasing concern about increasing global temperatures, there has been an increased focus on carbon capture technologies as a way to mitigate climate change by decreasing atmospheric carbon dioxide levels. Despite the benefits of carbon capture, especially in regard to the mitigation of climate change, there are several regulatory barriers to the widespread implementation of carbon capture technologies. This literature review examines the current regulatory and political incentives, such as tax credits and grants, and barriers, such as economic and environmental concerns, to carbon capture adoption in the United States. Through the analysis of these incentives and hurdles, this review provides insight on how current policy affects the implementation of carbon capture technologies and suggests areas for further study to gain understanding of how to facilitate the widespread adoption of carbon capture technologies in the United States.
Mini-Practicum
Final Group Presentation
This is the final presentation that my team gave to our mentors, Dr. Sonja Salmon and Youngwoo Hwang, for our mini-practicum project in Fall 2024. For this project, we looked into possible partnerships and funding sources for their technology, a textile embedded with enzymes that carry out carbon and nitrogen conversion.
